One of the least visited countries in the world.

COME SUFFER WITH US

A 200mile (300km) desert cycle. In one of the least visited countries in the world, Turkmenistan. In Central Asia. In the heat of summer. In 100°F heat (40 degrees). From Ashgabat (yes, it’s a real city. No, it’s not from Harry Potter) to the infamous Gates of Hell.

True adventure is to step where others don’t. Or in this case, have never before. No-one has ever cycled from the Turkmen capital to the Gates of Hell, so join us for the first ever edition of the Highway to Hell Ultracycle.

You don’t know yourself until you run the gauntlet. Pain, regret, remorse. But to set a target. A tough one at that. And to come through the other end? That’s growth. That’s a story for the grand kids. That’s a real adventure.

In an era of social media, where it’s all too easy and sit at home, marveling at epic stuff that other people do, this event is for you. It’s for us. We can all do it. No more living vicariously.Join us and complete the highway to hell ultra. Transcend the ordinary. Stand out. Come suffer with us this August.

“To visit the Gates of Hell is one of the top travel experiences on the planet. But to cycle there? That’s a new level. I created this event, just like to the Eye of the Sahara Ultra Marathon, because I know people are capable of so much more. So let’s suffer together. You’ll hate yourself (and me!) during it, but that’s only for 48 hours of pain. Whereas at the end, you’ll love yourself so much more for the rest of your life. And after this? The sky is the limit. That’s a pretty good trade”

JOHNNY WARD, ONESTEP4WARD FOUNDER

“Can anyone REALLY do this?

Yes. Honestly. ANYONE. Sure, it’s painful. And hot. And sweaty. It’s not even that cheap to be honest. But ANYONE can get through it. You just need some training. Some time in the saddle. And we have a whatsapp group for all questions, including training stuff. “I’ll get around it to it one day” creates a life of regret. Make today that day. See you in Ashgabat.

The FIRST EVER

Highway to Hell Ultracycle dates are: August 15-19*, 2025.

*You can extend your adventure in Turkmenistan to August 21st with an optional vodka-fuelled train across the country to the Caspian sea

TRAVEL

Don’t worry. I get it. You’ve barely even HEARD of Turkmenistan, and now you’re about to send your money to me and cycle across it? Is it safe? How do you get there? What about the visas? Hotels? Don’t worry. It’s all in hand. Take a leap of faith. But before that, you can read more here too.

PREPARATION

The beauty of ultra endurance events are that you don’t need to be an elite athlete. You just need to not quit. Even if it takes you forever. Also, we have a whatsapp group for all attendees, suggested training, and a welcome pack ready for when you sign up. Don’t sweat the small stuff. 90% of the battle is signing up and getting to the starting point. Once there, we’ll get you across the line.

EQUIPMENT

A full packing list is available HERE. But the main thing is a the will power to keep going. Also, you can bring your own bike, but if you can’t be bothered (we can’t either), we can buy them for you for about $299 in Turkmenistan and donate them to the kids in nearby community after.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I know you’re full of sell doubt. Sounds cool, but you can’t do it, right? WRONG. Honestly, ANYONE can do it. ANYONE. We will help with training, and mindset. Trust yourself to get through this. And after you complete it, just wait and see what other challenges you now believe you’re capable of. That’s the beauty of this stuff. It’s life changing.

BOOK YOUR SPOT

Want to book your spot? That’s more like it. You can do it on this link to WeTravel HERE (they process credit card bookings for us). You can also DM our founder Johnny on instagram.com/onestep4ward with any questions, or if you prefer to pay via bank transfer etc, that’s fine too. The most important thing is to get your ass to Ashgababt. The details, you can figure out later.
